Welcome to Navarre, Florida.  Home of beautiful sugary white beaches and crystal
produced a population and building explosion. The area stretches from Okaloosa county
line to the western edge of Holley-By-The-Sea. As of 2007, the population of Navarre
has increased to 30,699.

The history of Navarre is pretty interesting. A couples' visit to Spain started the
beginnings of what is now one of the best places in the  world to
live.                                    

Where It Started:
In the mid 1920s, retired Army Colonel Guy Wyman, formerly from Defuniak Springs,
and his wife moved to what is now Navarre.  Once established they called their little
piece of paradise Navarre, named after a much-loved area of Northern Spain.
Nothing more than untainted coastline, the area remained undeveloped into the early
1960s.  It wasn’t until then that things started to change with the construction of the
Navarre Beach Bridge.  This gateway to the Gulf of Mexico birthed the tourism
industry by providing access to the pristine white sand beaches along the Santa Rosa
Sound.

Continuing to Grow:
The community of Navarre started to grow and continues still to grow at a remarkable
speed while being conscience to still conserve natural areas in their innocent and
unspoiled beauty.

It was in 1978 when renowned Hollywood director Steven Spielberg discovered this
pure, isolated, and protected paradise and decided to film Jaws 2 near Navarre Beach
and the surrounding Gulf waters around Santa Rosa Sound.

UFO Sightings
Navarre and its closely surrounding areas are well known for their abundant UFO
sightings. This has sparked national speculation and also has been the topic for a
number of popular TV shows and best selling books.
